Polo 1.4 TDI 2002 - Need to identify coolant pipe - *Pics included*

Hi there,
My GF has a leak on her 2002 1.4 TDI polo, would somebody be so kind as to point me in the direction of the actual part pictures below for the cooling system ? the old one had perished.
Also as it stands all the coolant etc has drained from the engine, once i have the new part fitted what is the process to ensure i don't damage engine when i turn it on ? do i simply fill expansion vessel up and turn engine on?
