VW Main dealers (small rant)

Hi all,

Took my GTi to my local main dealer at 9 this morning to have the recall done on the pedal box. Had it arranged for over two weeks. When I went back at 5 this evening to collect the car they told me that they didn't have the parts in stock and could I call back another time. What was the point of taking the car in then? What was the point of me even bothering to arrange for the work to be carried out? Could they not have phoned me yesterday to let me know and I could have had a lie in seeing as I had booked the day off work specifically? They were also supposed to replace the front anti roll bar link and the rear bump stops, which they arranged to do at the recall, and guess what. They didn't have any of the parts for that either.

I thought Alfa dealers were bad, but now they seem like the masters of efficiency compared to VW.

Oh, and I drove the new Golf as well. Hated it, so when I am due to change cars next year I'll be going for another Alfa 147.

Sorry for the rant. Need to get this off my chest.
Chris

Believe it or not everyone who's had their GTi booked in for this recall has had this same problem, and most of us have had to use a courtesy car for upto 4 weeks (?), this is because when they actually perform the recall they end up breaking something or other and have to wait for that part to arrive, go and read the 'letter from vw' post, its appalling :x

i work for a main deeler and this week i have carrid out 4 polo gti pedal box recall and there is 9 booked in
they should have checked that the parts was in stock we had the same problem untill i told them to stop booking them in untill parts came in
the little clip that brakes
right vw supply us with a tool that supposed to slide down the master cylinder push rod in to the back of the brake pedal to relase the push rod but this tool is useless it just does not work to big for the clip so we just brake and replace the clip

just recently they have just came in from about a week of backorder and it sounds like every deeler is having a problem with these clips thus causing them to go on back order  again
personaly vw is taking this p*** now days

I must admit I was shocked at their service as I was exspecting it to be a shambles after hearing all other peoples problems with dealers,

The garage was Gilbert Lawton in Macclesfield

At least I know now that it's not just me then. Is it true that they have to take the whole dash out to replace the pedal box? Has anyone had any problems with the dash squeeking when they got the car back? I have to say that upto now the only squeek I ever hear in my car has been the clasp on my watch!

squeak

yep, squeaks from the dash post- pedal box replacement, with steering column and dash out. It's a bugger, but then do I really want them to take it all out a third time???? I did later discover it was the air vents squeaking, and not a mouse under my accelerator pedal.
