hi everyone,
today i was with a friend while his car was fitted with a backbox at the local garage. i couldn't help but desire one for my polo, but since i don't want the sound but only the looks, i was wondering if a custom job to fit an exhaust tip would be possible. why does the diesel exhaust pipe come out in two pieces whereas the petrol one comes in one? would it damage the paint on the bumper if the tip is not positioned far enough from it?

petrol exhausts have one pipe coming out of the box whereas diesels have two pipes, if i'm not mistaken in generalizing

well 1 with a greater diameter so it will wrap round the 2 pipes?

The two pipes also point straight down, so I doubt an "off the shelf" aftermarket tip would fit.

There is a sports back box for both petrol and diesel available from VW, with polished tips showing. Nelson had one on his last 9n.

didnt 1 member from here have a Fabia tip on his 9N?

yes he did, but it was a petrol engine and the tip is for single exhaust pipe. so no luck there

cant u buy 2 and fit 1 one each?

no they're really close, and they point downward like dxg said. i'll go to the garage and ask them what they can do about it

why do diesels have 2 btw? and petrols have 1?

hey, i used to have the fabia tip, it looked gd from far, but as u come closer, it looks cheap and you can tell its plastic. i have a powerflow back box, and they can create any kind of sound u wont, u can even ask them not to have a sound if u wish.

how much was ur back box jazzy?

jazzy, is your lower rear bumper modified for the backbox in your sig?

it was £210 and the lower bumper comes with a slight curve init, but when it was being fitted the guys told me that they may have to shave the bumper a bit.

do u know how much a cat back system will cost? and is ur 1 loud?
