Steering fluid pump

Hello - i have a Polo 2003 1.2. I lost all power steering the other day accompanied by a yellow steering warning sign on the dashboard. I got a reading from diagnostics "Power Steering Control Module -J500 faulty". There is still fluid in the reservoir, and I am assuming it is the pump, but just wondering if there could be any other issue that may be causing this before I order the pump,
