Wheel spacers

What size spacers on a 6N2 Polo GTI? I have BBS RS 764 6 1/2x16 ET45. I have just put 15mm on the front which look ok, but they would not fit on the back hubs because of it's extra depth and the centre of the spacer tapers in so it's narrower at the front than at the back. Do you usually put the same width front and back or wider at the back or wider at the front?
