Metallic Java owners

I'm considering paying much more money for a used metallic java polo, simply because I consider it a really nice colour and have seen so few of them on the road. I was wondering, however: is it remotely high maintenance? For example I like black cars, but have never allowed myself to buy one because they show every slight scratch and every bit of dirty, and that's the sort of thing I probably care too much about.

Thanks

I think you need to be careful and not let your heart rule your head by paying much more money for a Polo of a certain colour than you would pay for an equivalent Polo of a different colour, as it's unlikely you'd get the additional outlay back when you come to sell the car.

I must say, I didn't know what colour Java metallic was and had to Google it to find out . I do quite like the colour, but don't think I've actually seen one 'in the flesh'. The fact that there don't seem to be many of this colour about (you also say you've not seen many) could be an indication it's not a popular colour, so might be more difficult to sell than say a red, black or white Polo when the time comes to sell it.

As for being high maintenance:- Java is a dark colour, and to keep it looking good, it's important to have a good basic set of car cleaning kit and a good washing technique to minimise the risk of the paintwork becoming swirled. Worth reading the thread at the link below and if you Google 'two bucket wash method' there's lots of information on the internet about good car washing tecniques to minimise damage and keep the paintwork looking its best.

Whether you buy the Java metallic Polo you've seen or some other car, good luck with your search.

Appreciate you saying so, mate. Incidentally, I've since noticed (which tells you I've not yet gone for it) it doesn't seem that much more than the other colours when I search. A grey one went for what in hindsight seems a good price; I suspect I've just been underestimating their value.
