Which gearboxes fit?

Hi,
I have a 2002 1.4 16v 100bhp polo and it needs a gearbox.
Which ones fit? As the 1.2's boxes are cheaper.... it's a first car for my lad so not worried about top speed ect....

Its not so much top speed. Its the ratios and the acceleration thats the major issue with mismatching the box
Any box from the 9N engine will fit, providing you use a gearbox from a BXX engine if you have a BXX engine, and an AXX if you have an a AXX (XX being whatever your engine code is)

I've got a BBZ which is 100bhp and found a box locally from a seat Ibiza with BBY which is 75bhp....

Ratios will be a little off but it should be ok
