Hi, recently bought a VW Polo 9N3, fairly new to cars as it's my first. Basically I'm just looking for some guidance as to what things I would need to buy to replace the double DIN head unit for an aftermarket double DIN head unit such as this one:

Cheers in advance

Welcome

What year is your 9N3 and what radio is currently fitted?

Youll need this kit:

And these removal keys:

Youll need to tag the red wire onto an ignition live, and the orange wire onto a blue/grey illumination wire. The heated rear window switch is a good spot to piggy back these wires onto.

The blue wire connects to the 'remote' wire on the radio harness

Hi. I’m currently doing this myself in a 2009 9n3 with the same radio, but I’m not sure where I should connect the illumination wire as that doesn’t seem to be a grey/blue wire that went into the back of the old radio.

As above you need to piggy back from the heated rear window switch. There isn’t one in the radio loom

Thanks for the reply. Wouldn’t that give the illumination wire a constant 12v? I assumed that it needed to be connected somewhere to the lights so the voltage changed as the light were turned on, but I don’t really know how this all works, hence why I’m confused.

Sorry, I think I’ve seen the wire you were talking about now. Thanks for the help
