is it still possible to upgrade the rears to the 256mm vented rears off a 2wd VAG car?

my rears are grinding and there is already a lip on the discs.

Is it worth it?
I mean: do the vented discs radically change the brakes performance and resistance to fade, considering that the front brakes do almost the 70% of the work?
Or is just an aesthetic upgrade?

they don't add a lot, if anything in stopping power. for that, a front-brake upgrade would be better. But you already have the 312/310mm vented discs at the front.

where a rear brake upgrade might come in handy, is when you do track days and that kind of stuff. A vented rotor is a bit better at cooling down, increasing repeated braking performance.

Thank you for the answer! :)
I was considering this upgrade, but then I realized all these things, plus the fact that vented discs weigh more than solid ones.
I think I'm staying with 232mm on the rear, since I'm not a track driver. :)

i'd say the rears do a fair bit

i did this upgrade on my 9n3 and it did make a big difference

it just made breaking more solid imho

i'm going to be modding my car soon aswell so the extra for calipers and carriers isn't too bad

make sure it's suited for FWD; AWD setups will not fit.
