Miles once light comes on

Does anyone know roughly how many miles you get once the fuel light comes on? As I've still got two bars left and it comes on. 1.4 dsg

My fuel light comes on when the range says 35 miles. I've let it get down to 10 miles before filling up and its just over 42 litres of petrol (45 litre tank), so I'm guessing you can let the range get quite low before you really run out. Never want to risk it to find out though.
