Ordered some new alloys the other day from dubmeister for my polo (taking a while to be delivered), they're 7x15's, with 195x50 tyres (platin p16's) , im looking to get a set of coilovers, whats the maximum i can lower my car without arch mods or any scrapping?

Should think you will be ok with 40mm - might need smaller tyres to go lower

Question about lowering.
Im on 15z as well and what would I need to lower by 40mm, cause springs are like £80, but what do you get in the full kits costing like £300?
Whats the best thing to do?

in the full kit you will get a set of uprated dampers in addition to the springs.
The only problem with spring only kits is the additional stress they put on the standard dampers. If you dampers are oldish the springs will kill them
Another benefit of going for a full lit is if you shop carefully you can get adjustable dampers as well (like Koni's Sport kit) this allows you to set up your ride abit better
hope that helps

get 195/45/15 tyres and u can lower it further without problems.
Crisis, go for coilovers if u can afford it!

Whats better about them? Coil covers I guess is the £300 kit, whereas the cheap kit just does the smaller springs, thus lowering the car.
Advantages and disadvantages of them?

coilovers have the damper and spring in one unit like
THIS and are far superior to any other suspension kit you can buy. Normal ones enable you to adjust the height and damping force to complete tailor your ride to how you want it.
Spring and damper kits have and uprated damper (stiffer) and tighter wound springs - these aren't as adjustable as you can only adjust the damping power on them
My old suspension
Springs are literally just lower and tighter springs - they give you a lower ride height but an aweful drive (compared to the options above). They'll also kill you dampers.
If you have any specific queries please feel free to ask
hope that helps

yeah, the standard dampers "wont keep up" with the more quicker sportier springs.

195/45/15 is the best tyre size because its rolling radius is more or less the same as the original steelies. also there wont be error in the speedo reading.

45 profile tyres are generally the recommended rating for most aftermarket wheel manufacturers (for the Polo).
plus the added benefit of creating enough room for a "low dub"
with 16s you'd have to go 40 profile even on a 60mm drop - an expensive tyre and possibly not the best ride/handling package
15s with 195/45/15 and 60mm slam will look dha bomb!

So....
Anyone care to give me the lowest price for a 60mm drop? Go as low as you go...
2nd hand would be okay. And hopefully fittin is semi easy.

Fitting the kits is easy but make sure u get the camber done if ya car is pre- 98 then u have not camber adjustment which can be a bummer, ive got a guy i know who can do it for me u have to slot the bolts that hold the shockers to the actual wheel nite mare!!!!
