Composition media alternatives to Garmin/Kenwood

I have seen a number of alternatives to the plug in upgrades (like the Garmin/Kenwood retrofit). However, I have not actually seen any that were cost effective, in fact in some cases it was even more than the approved unit. Here are some I have found:

http://www.naviplus.com.au/vw-compositi ... ps-upgrade

I did find another one previously that was also iGo Primo 9 based (I think) and was just slightly cheaper than the Kenwood, but I have lost the link now... any others that I have missed. Has anyone used one of these Android GPS boxes?

Changing the subject. I installed my old Transcend dashcam, and did wonder (from reading another thread) about just getting a combined satnav/dashcam, but I don't particularly want a massive unit on my dash. But this could be the way to go... any recommendations/pictures installed? At present I am using one of those vent clip magnetic mounts to hold the phone. But the vents cant handle the weight and fall down, and the phone then rubs on the vent...

I think I found the one I was referring to before (which is also in eBay)

Pretty sure I remember someone on here slating it, and reasonably confident the nav will not show in the cluster (and presumably not for the Kenwood/Garmin either).....

You can get a upgrade from VW for Golf and Tiguan now which does show in instrument cluster which is about £500. Not sure if it's applicable to Polo yet though. It replaces original media unit.

Oh that sounds interesting. I could justify the cost if full functionality is enabled. I still cannot believe the voice activation is an option, whens surely this is just coding to turn it on....
