Painting the rear badge

Is there a way to take the rear badge apart to paint it as two separate pieces.
I bought a spare one and painted the vw part black and then masked it up and painted the inside part silver. This did not go so well and was wondering if you can take it apart.
I have tried looking and I can't find anything for the 9n
