multifunctional steering wheel for vw polo 1.4 match 2012

Hi guys I just got a polo and was wondering if I can change the normal steering wheel for a genuine optional extra multifunctional one. (the one with only buttons on the left hand side.)
What my question is to you guys is; are the airbags the same? ? As the shape looks the same, and how are the buttons connected up so they work with the rcd310 radio?
