Just thought I'd have a change, so I got some new wheels for the old jalopy.

They look like VW Parabolica alloys (7.5J x 17” ET44) from the previous generation Polo GTI.

As with any diamond cut alloys, be careful when parallel parking to minimise the risk of kerb damage. Also, keep a close watch on the diamond cut surface for stone chip damage to the clear coat, and repair it quickly to minimise the risk of oxidation to the unprotected diamond cut surface or water ingress under the clear coat. Left unattended, it’ll quickly develop into white worm corrosion that’ll need a full refurbishment to repair it, and these days a good quality diamond cut refurb probably costs £100+ for a 17” alloy.

If your previous alloys were powder coated and if you’ve kept them, I’d recommend putting them back on your car during the winter months as IMHO diamond cut alloys and winter road conditions aren’t a good combination for preservation of the diamond cut finish.

Dechromed the whole thing over the bank hol weekend.

May be martmite for some but ties in with wheels and so on imo.

Alterations include both front and rear VW and GTI badging, side blades and front grill strip.

Took mine out int the rain today for the first time since picking it up last week. And what a racket the wipers make (IE. judder etc.). I'll have a shot at cleaning the screen and wiper blades and see if that makes a difference.
Hey, maybe it will get better over time

Save your time and replace them. Bosch A864S Aerotwin are a lot better.

Do these really make much difference? As I've been down this route with other cars and still had issues.

Cheap fix though if they do make a decent difference.

Yes, these really do make a difference. I recently bought a T-Cross which had wiper judder, popped a spare Bosch set I keep for my Polo wipers on and judder all gone on the new car too.

The factory wipers on my GTI+ seem to be OK. However, on my previous car (previous generation Polo GTI) the factory wiper blades weren’t great and I replaced them with Bosch Aerotwins, which were a significant improvement over the OEM factory blades.

I’ll be fitting Bosch Aerotwins to my car when replacements are needed.

Hi Everyone..... Newbie Alert
This is my first post
Just want to say hello and I love my VW Polo SEL 115 DSG
Just got back today from a week away in Devon and Cornwall, after a fantastic time behind the wheel
Thought I'd post the results of the drive around as see by the computer. I think 55+ mpg over the whole week for a petrol car is pretty impressive. Though it did consist of a large amount of motorway driving, a lot of it was twisty narrow country roads, tractors and some built up areas near the sea looking for a parking space (St Ives and Padstow). It holds the line on that ever tightening hairpin without complaint, choose sport mode + manual shift for a rapid escape or just choose ECO and help save the planet.
What more could you want...... OK a Porsche if I could afford one.
