Alternator issue

Hi guys i was just driving my 6n2 gti and the battery light came on then air bag light then handbrake light then i lost power to the stereo, lights and climate control, it then missfired and now wont turn over and when i try the head lamps shut off. Is this an alternator? If so what are they like to fit
