Alloy wheels recommendations

What size Alloy wheels do people recommend, i have the standard 185/60/15 and would like to go larger for better grip, should i get the next size up tyres 195/55/15 or got 215/45/16 or 215/40/17 ? my car is the polo 1.4 R6 2009.
