Hello, just wondering if anyone can help, I've recently bought my 2005 VW polo, I was driving it today and it all of a sudden started shuddering and the orange engine light came on, any help would be much appreciated

Which engine? If a petrol one could be a coil failure or a spark plug failure, a cheap EOBD scan tool could help you out a bit.

Hi Vince I bought a cheap scan tool from ebay (U281)
It will scan all the engine fault codes.
It will not always tell you the exact problem but it does really help with diagnosis.
As Rum posted - it plugs into the OBD port just below the drivers parcel shelf (ie above the pedals)
