After market radio

I know there are a lot of forms already out there with this stuff but I thought it may be quicker to start again.
I have a 06 TDI SE Polo I would like to fit a new radio.
I have a Sony DAB radio from my old car that I would like to fit. A few questions is it possible to fit a single din DAB radio?

If so where can I buy the correct facia?
I have the wiring harness and adaptor form my other car is it likely to fit? The other car was a Toyota Yaris.
How important are the keys to take the current radio out of the polo? Is there another way of taking the radio out without the keys?
Thanks in advance!!

You just need a standard DIN sized pocket to go underneath. An 06 polo is on the border between CANBUS and ISO, but its more likely to be a quadlock canbus connector

Dont even try without the keys - for the fiver they cost, its best to just bite the bullet and get them. Genuine ones are only a fiver. Cheap ebay ones bend and wont release it properly.

Hi,
So I don't need to buy a facia? I just need the single DIN with the shelf underneath. So all I will need from there is the correct connector?

Correct, just a single din shelf by itself. The opening is already DIN compliant so a new radio will go straight in with a cage without the need for anything else

Youll need a fakra aerial adapter too likely as VW use different aerial connectors

Hi again,
Just took the radio out. It looks like it would be easier to just fit a double DIN radio. Is that correct? Would one just take the place of the old polo radio or are they still slightly different sizes?
Cheers

Sorry to post so many questions. I can't find the correct DIN for the polo does anyone out there actually have a single din radio with a shelf underneath? If so where did you get the parts from?
Cheers

The double din is a standard double din radio - any normal double din will fit, and ultimately look better than single

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Standard-Radio ... adio+shelf its like this - halfords sell them too.

We have an old Sony explode in our 9n,with a handy little cubby underneath :)
I cannot remember if I bought online or just popped into Halfords for it.
Honest M'lud - I did not do most of the damage on the dash - well it is an 02 car LOL

Okay guys, I brought a Canbus adaptor from Halfords myself and a guy from work fitted the radio no problem. The radio wouldn't turn off and the car wouldn't lock. Because the radio has no Canbus the body control unit stopped working. Does any one know how I can buy the correct adaptor? I've been told there is one out there.

Which adapter did you buy exactly?

I've the same problem with the Alpine radio I fitted to my 9N3 BlueMotion, i'm unable to lock the car unless the radio is switched off.

If you can recommend the correct canbus please, that would be great

I don't know if this is relevant to your polos but just out of interest.
I fitted an old Pioneer radio to our 2009 Fabia,I just used a normal non canbus adaptor and then used a piggy back fuse to run an ign switched power lead from the fuse box up to the radio power wire as I wasn't happy to leave the radio supply live when parked.
Door locking has been ok so far.
