Hi all.
I have a 64 plate polo and am looking to change the head unit for one that has sat nav.... any recommendations/advice would be much appreciated.

Wooops.... I have no idea . I’ve just spoken to VW who say they can upgrade the software to enable me to have car play... £218

And yes, thats the only option really. Changing to something that will fit and look decent will cost alot more than that. Going down the VW route allows you to retain the additional functionality the screen offers so its worth it.

Well after half a day off work, the goons at vw claim they can’t update the software.... also there is no code for the mirrorlink and I don’t know how to get one.... looks as though my only option is a separate sat nav

Mirrorlink and CarPlay are very different. What phone do you have?

I have an iPhone 8 but was prepared to buy an android which would work with mirrorlink...

They should be able to enable CarPlay. Speak to a different dealer

My hubby even asked if they could put in a new head unit and again they said it can’t be done

There is only one unit that can have app connect (android auto / car play)

3q0035842b is the only unit.

I'm part way through getting it for mine. I got second hand unit off eBay and have had component protection removed just need to get bluetooth re-enabled and get app connect.

If you have a 3q0035820 it cannot be updated.
