Basically as the title says, do people ever do build threads anymore? I know people move on etc but it seems quiet these days.

There’s not a lot of 6N2 GTI’s about now tbh. I find this forum good for the technical stuff. I tend to use edition 38 for build threads but you still only see the odd 6N2 on there.

Yeah I understand as a lot of them have gone now, yeah it's still good for problems and queries. I was thinking of starting a little build thread but might not be much point. I haven't been on edition 38 so could be worth a look I guess

Theres a few build threads still. Sadly theres not many 6N2 owners left who put that much time into their cars now, or are prepared to document it like some of us used to do

Yeah it's a shame but understandable I guess

It’s hard keeping momentum with a build thread too, I’m slowly renovating my GTI but you guys would be fed up with how long it’s taking as I do a bit then it takes a back seat whilst I convert my T5 or mess around keeping my daily going for example.

Please do feel that you can do a new build thread.

I seem to have sorted out my Gti's so just drop in here from time to time to see if I can help anyone else. That's why I'm here tonight.

So what modern engine & gear box could you drop into the mk5 now?

I've thread a few threads where the 1.8 turbo block was dropped in but what about something more current, say a Mini Cooper S block?

I'm very much a keep it original guy so wouldn't be able to advise there
