I've taken both off!
I'm going to remove the VW badge aswell, but I can't do that myself because of the filling, smoothing and painting.

Yeah! Why? are you ashamed to be driving a GTI? Not good enough for you? ha ha ha!
Only kidding, you can get them off by a hairdryer or by pouring warm water over the badge to moisten the sticky stuff...or wait for a boiling hot day and peel it off by finger...

use a hairdryer (not many hot days) and heat up the glue.
some ppl force it off when its heated up and it will leave sticky marks. although these would come off with soap and water, i waited till it started to peel itself.
it took bout 10-15mins and i didnt have any marks

Lol ! I only really want to remove the POLO badge, I want to leave the GTi bit on, to show its not a bottom of the range model

, just wondering what u lot think on removing the polo badge, I want to do that and colour code the rear vw badge, is it worth it ?

Sorry to hear about that, how very unlucky

, (although 113mph is not exactly safe now is it lol) not being able to drive your car for that long is really sucks, you'll just have to make your mates drive u around for a while
oh and Loopi GiT would look great on the back, how about POO for the front grille ?

On the subject of debadging...
I was thinking of taking off POLO on the back and swapping the front's VW badge for a black one. Then remove both GTi badges from front and back and replace with the ones from the Golf MkIV GTi Anni. version - I think my friendly dealer can fix me up with those.
So the badges come off with a bit of hairdryer action eh? Cool. What about the front VW badge tho? If I get a good decent grip and pull pretty hard (careful now, I'm talking about the car!) will it just pull out? Or are there screws/catchs that I might break in the process?
If someone could tell me that'd be real good. Cheers!

I changed my front VW badge for a black one.
The old one does come out quite easily with a good grip and a steady pull.
are you ashamed to be driving a GTi?
No, I am just going for a really smooth look. Door strips, handles/locks, side indicators..... are all on the chopping block!
besides, nobody can doubt it's a GTi at the traffic lights!
Just a thought

Prash, just a thought... if you remove the POLO, then everyone will think you're driving a LUPO.

It will be like driving a MINT car without the HOLE

Right then, think i'm gonna just take the polo badge off, colour code the rear vw badge and then stick a nice black badge on the front grille..... or shall I just leave it standard

lol

The polo badge will just come off without any screws or holes etc just heat it up, with the front badge here's the technique given by the almighty Josh:
Open Bonnet
See top of grille there are 4 or 5 little clips
Get a flatblade in there and pop them all open
Remove Grille
See back of VW Badge
Unclip
Sorted!
