you've got little choice but to take it to a dealer and get it drilled out. They have the right locators and drill bits for this job. I had some non-factory VW 'light' wheel bolts that VW put with the GTIs as additional VW spares items some years back. These bent the prongs in the wheel nut so I had to have one removed with some drilling. It's a common problem. Get the new Mark 3 bolts - these are much stronger and won't break.

VW will rape you!! if your anygood on the tools you can do this job yourself! dead simple! squire off the top of the bolt with a file an find the centre of the bolt. once you've found the centre, centre pop it! this is a guide for the drill, make about a 15/20mm deep hole. use pleanty of coolant (WD40) unless you have easy outs you'll need to buy some, b&Q will have them. screw it in and this will draw the bolt out! DO NOT shock the easy outs! if they snap you are screwed!!

time: 2 hours (unless you know what your doing)
cost: £10/15 for the easy outs

nightmare same thing happened to me a couple of months ago.try to make an indent in the top of the bolt with a dremel tool and use a flat head driver to get the bolt out.
