Hi guys and gals my partner is getting her first polo this Thursday 1.0 65ps se model on a pcp . If anyone of you have ordered one on finance what sort of deals did you all get ?

I walked into the local dealer in mid March and asked them to match online brokers. They said yes, and I paid £14,500 for an off the shelf 1.0 95 PS SE with reflex silver metallic paint. This includes a £500 contribution from VW finance for taking out PCP, which I paid off ASAP. I think I paid £10 interest. I’m not sure they would be so keen to so such a deal now given the production backlog. Wonderful little car, although the automatic braking system is decidedly iffy. It lit up today when the car in front was 100m away.

Did "Lmr1342" go on Carwow site first and get a quote from them even before gong to the VW dealer. Carwow saved me well over £2,300 off the original price.

Permission to reply "well, duh" but does obtaining a discounted quote from Carwow refer to a car currently in stock 'as is' or can one get a discount on a personal specced factory order? Just curious for potential future reference....

Pretty certain you can get a Carwow discount off a ‘built to order’ car to your spec.

You configure the car to your spec on the Carwow website, and you then receive offers from a selection of (think it’s 5) dealers on a car of that spec. Chances are, the dealers providing the offers won’t have a car to your spec in stock, so it would be a factory build. Carwow dealers will also offer discounts on cars they have in stock, and most, of not all, will take your current car as part ex against the new car. They have a used car valuation facility on their website, so you can get an idea of what your current car is worth.

Also worth considering Drive the Deal, who seem to offer some of the best discounts. With DTD, I don’t think it’s possible to part ex your car, although if some dealers will take your existing car as a trade in, they’ll probably offer bottom trade value. Better to either try and sell privately, or use the services of organisations like Tootle, where dealers bid for your car, and you are free to choose which one to sell to.

I was offered £1,000 part exchange for my old car. I got £1800 elsewhere. Dealers rarely give good money. That said, a Rover dealer in Paignton bought my late mother’s car when she was no longer able to drive. He could have fleeced her, but gave a fair price.

We used Carwow and the discounted price for our factory order was 11.9%, but rather than wait months the sales person offered a few cars they had in the system if we were happy to compromise on spec. We agreed on a car, so I did another quote on Carwow with the revised spec and still got the discounted priced on the car. Included in the Carwow offer was full tank of fuel and a full set of VW mats. And yesterday got the £20 amazon voucher for buying through Carwow.

I can’t fault Carwow.

To that list maybe add "Orangewheels" - and yes, sometimes there will be better deals from these brokers on (dealers) stocked cars that are slow to shift, but I went for a factory spec'd order to get my price, which my local VW dealer accepted. Actually, what I did, for my wife, was to generate a rough "purchase order request" which laid out exactly the spec of car she required and indicated clearly what she would pay for it - included in that was a small mark up to cover what would have been our travelling costs as we would want to collect the car directly from the dealer, as a word document, so no chatting/dealing/folding required, all she asked politely for was a quick can you/can't you ie "yes" or "no" - after that we would have done the same at another 2 or 3 localish VW main dealers before handing the order over to the broker.

Going back to "well duh" Carwow gets discounts on not only self spec cars, but also on cars held in stock by the dealer, be it SE, SEL, Beat, R, GTI or GTI+.

I hope this clears things up for you with your potential future purchases.
