I'm intrigued. Has anyone had any experience of this on the Polo? :?

According to the explore Polo GTI page on VWUKs website: "Long drives and late nights can make you tired behind the wheel. The Driver Alert System monitors your driving style, and if it detects you might be tired it will alert you to take a break."

No rhyme in reason to it either imo

Just shy of 3000 Miles and I haven't once been told to take a break. lol.

o I have once or twice. it is quite random. on none of the occasions did I think I was tired and needed a rest. I think it just picks up inactivity, my sitting still doing 70ish (of course we do not admit to breaking speed limits in this country) for quite awhile on a motorway normally gets a reaction after about 30-60mins. :D

On mine, it gives a 'Take a break' warning after 2 hours of continuous driving.

Unless i need the toilet, I just ignore it...

It’s on my previous generation Polo GTI and I’ve never had it trigger a ‘take a break’ warning in the 31 months I’ve owned the car.

I'd forgotten all about that, I remember seeing it as being a feature in my wife's August 2015 Polo SEL, but soon forgot about it and its never given out any warnings - just shows how attentive I am - not!
Typically that car is used for shorter journeys so if I'm lucky I'll never get a warning. (depends what the definition of shorter is I suppose)

I’ve had it come on once. I was driving from Canterbury to Birmingham......it was after 2 hours I think and it was after midnight. Not sure what the exact trigger is but it did warn me to take a break :D

I have it on my POLO SE 1.2 2015 model and I've never had it come up and warn me while driving.

I make the trip to and back between York and London every now and then and that journey is 3h30m nonstop, but it has never come up for me, telling me to take a break.

The only time I've heard it chime is when my mother was driving the same route.

I thought the system had some sort of inferred cameras in the dash that is looking at your eyes to see any signs of sleepiness as well as the onboard computer looking at your driving input and style to detect the behaviour of a fatigued driver.

So I know it is there but I think its pointless as there has been a time where I was on the last stretch of a journey feeling very tired and it never chimed to warn me.
