Polo 6R MFD - No way to access settings

Hi all,
Just found this forum, find it extremely useful and contains a bunch of great content. I recently purchased an 09 Polo 1.6 TDI. I saw that users were making changes to the settings in the MFD; km to mph, lights etc. However I cannot seem to access the settings.
My steering wheel does not have controls on it, nor does my wiper stalk have a rocker switch on it. Am I missing something?
I've got no idea how to access the settings and every guide I read has one of the above.
