chipped up the GTi?
How have you found it afterwards in relation to speed, power and fuel?
After a slight speed disagreement with a VTS, I think I need a touch more
(Neck and neck right up to 120mph, only my very own private motorway officer)

neck and neck really ? I know the vts has about the same power output as the polo but thought it had a fair bit of an advantage cos its made of plastic

Ive checked out a couple of companies:

Star Chip - Nothing
Superchips - Nothing
Chip Tuning? - £350 all inc*
BHP Std = 125
BHP Chip = 140
Nm Std = 152
Nm Chip = 170

unfortunately AMD and jabbasport dont seem to do anything either. they seem to focus on turbo or diesel engines.
Perhaps start to look at the breathing of the engine, full system exhaust, air filter, induction kit, throttle bodies etc.
then maybe get some race cams fitted.
Personally i think the race cams are the best mod, a friend of mine had some fitted on his 106 GTi, and in the upper rev range, it absolutely flew!

I had a chat to Neil at the Polo show and he took his Polo to be chipped by SKN Tuning, you can get this done at Scotts Mototune...can't remember the costing but it has given Neil's Polo 14-15bhp more....could this be what you are looking for?
I've seen an article in VW Driver magazine and they seem to be a reputable company having tuned an R32 to 300bhp+
Check it out and let us know how you get one, otherwise have NOS installed, it will cost more but I think for the increase in power you won't get more bhp for your hard-earned cash!

chipping is deffo the way forward, espesh on diesels. companies like AMD and jabba sport do more tuning than just chipping, call them, they can recommend something.

PoloGTI, I found an easy way to get more power is to clean the injectors and use the right fuel.
I have checked out many petrols in my other car and this one and came to the same conclusion that the only petrol that really performs is Shell Unleaded, or Shell Optimax if you can afford it.
And, if you put in a measured dose of Redex Petrol Injector treatment (the black bottle one), then you can really feel the power difference! This is safe in the GTI engine and with the CAT.
Both these make a real difference to the torque and output. No other mods needed for me

they say that shell optimax for 16v and bp ultimate for 8v's.
ive 8v and bp does more of the trick for me so perhaps they are rite!
ive also got a bmc and i tell you that defo helps!

I've noticed a difference using Optimax also, I've had mine on the rollers twic since I've had it, the first time without Optimax and the second time with.
It my be just luck or the accuracy of the the second rolling road but on the second run I managed to get a couple more bhp than when running without. The car feels more responsive also and because it burns quicker it means it keeps my engine clean!
I feel the GTI is fast enough as it is so I haven't really planned for any engine mods (plus my insurance will be sky high!). As for racing the VTS, as Prash says it is nothing but an engine with a tin car bolted on, there are no comforts in the Saxos and they are light as anything...there is no air-con and xenons...you have to think that the GTI is faster considering the amount of extra weight...at least you are travelling fast...in comfort!

niggly problems of the polo aside you cant compare it with a saxo
the build quality is better, when you close the door on the polo it shuts out far more noise. No rattles, beautiful dash layout and design. the engine bay looks nicer, the alloy wheels are neater its better in almost every aspect.
saxo vts is cheap fun, the polo is in a class above and thats all there is to it.
With regards to shell optimax, i noticed a difference but I also cant afford it what with fuel prices that keep going up.

optimax definately makes a difference.i had my car rolling roaded and it was putting out 137 bhp with no mods
