Auto dimming mirror problem

Hello Folks!
I have installed an OEM auto dimming mirror on my 2016 polo (India). It seems to be working but it is not dark enough for my eyes, particularly when vehicles behind my car keep their high beam on.
I drive back home mostly in night time and I really need a perfect working auto mirror to save my already tired eyes due to day long computer work.
Following points I have already tried without any effect -
- cleaning mirror light sensors both front and back
- sticking a black tape on the back light (ambient) sensor which senses lights coming from windshield. This i tried just to trick the mirror that it is really very dark outside.
Any help would be much appreciated..
