Losing coolant

OK, so the car has had this problem since before I owned it, and the previous owner just used to keep topping it up, but it's bothering me, and I want to get to the bottom of it.

About three or four days after topping the coolant up, the coolant indicator in the dashboard comes on, and when I check, the coolant level has dropped again.

The engine doesn't appear to be overheating, and I've looked all over the engine, and can't find any evidence of it leaking anywhere. I've parked it on my drive after driving, and stuck a sheet of cardboard underneath it for half an hour, nothing.

I'm at a total loss! Can anyone recommend anything/anywhere to check?

Engine oil is fine by the way. No sign of water getting in.

Hi Bill
Have you checked down behind the radiator - the fan switch sometimes starts to leak - the tell-tale will be if the switch and rad are stained with anti freeze.
Sometimes one can just 'tweak' it up very gently.I think it is 27/29mm and I think I just tweaked mine by no more than 1/16th of a turn (plastic threads).
