de-activate interior alarm

I have an 18 plate Polo R, love the car but can't find out how to de-activate the interior sensor when I leave my dog in. The handbook says that there is a button to press, as there was on our old 07 Polo, but can't find one on the R. Help please.

Manual says if your drivers door doesn’t have the interior alarm button then you need to deactivate via the vehicle settings menu on the infotainment screen and lock the car using the key not keyfob.

I usually press the lock button once, slight pause then press again if I leave windows open, that seems to work for me, have you tried that?
