Got my car back today. Had a 30k lubrication, MOT, alloy wheel and brake fluid change. Also asked them to check out intermitant grating noise when engaging reverse (but found nothing).

As soon as I got in, I noticed the clutch pedal seemed a lot tighter (good or bad I don't know). Drove off and the gearbox seemed tighter too, and squeeky noises coming from somwehere.

Absolutely fuming on the way home (was too late to go back - will return armed tomorrow).

Went home the long way to give car a good test drive - only getting myself more worked up, with squeeky noises driving me mad.

Went out 7.30pm on a real long test drive and it seems the noises are coming from the gearbox. The noises seem to appear at different times, after changing up/down between 2nd /3rd, after breaking, and when revving slighty in neutral.

Don't know if it's just me or not (i'm listening for all noises now) but on acceleration there is a suction noise coming from the back of the car.

Also notice slight gauge in outer rim of new alloy wheel, where they've obviously damaged it during fitting.

Not very happy.

Not all VW garages are a joke

Just taken my car back to where I bought it for second opinion (300 miles round trip).

Technicain spotted the cause straight away - all noises caused by a problem with the exhaust back box. My bushes also needed lubricating . Why was this not picked up on my lubrication service/MOT at my local dealer .

Garaged checked over whole car, lubed bushes, reimbursed petrol costs, and will replace back box free of charge and reimburse petrol once again :D. If only my local VW garage could provide 1% of this customer service.

It seems very funny that my local VW garage did not pick up on this - unless they casued it to get more money out of me :?:.

Other than minor exhaust problem, car running like a dream :D

Have you sorted this yet?

Basically to get rid of it you have to press and hold the trip meter button for about 1-2 minutes and it resets.

Believe it or not it does take that long!
