The 6C generation doesn't use a relay for the horn. It's operated through the BCM.

Did you change or remove anything on your car? Steering wheel, BCM, fuses, whatever? What fuse did you check? Did you do any programming with VCDS?

Perhaps there has been a MFS fitted when there wasn't any, or he wrong MFS. If you have a VCDS, check for errors in the BCM , check measurement values for horn inputs and do some output tests to verify horn functioning.

Would any diagnostics specialist be able to pull those up or would it have to be vacom stuff?

Any VAG diagnostic tool should be able to do so. VCDS is just the most common one.

Did you resolve this issue ? I know I am resurrecting an old post but I have exactly the same issues , no horn working, no cruise control buttons working, but the steering lights up the buttons and all the ones for volume and info working perfectly.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your response, I have replaced the clock spring already and the issue remains, I am under the impression something is not right can bus wise as both the horn and cruise share this.

I am unsure how to test. Tested all of the buttons and they are fine in terms of values but nothing from the horn but it sounds on an output test.

Sadly I do not have access to VCDS, I'm using OBDEleven and I'm unsure if it can pull a report I can paste here. I have another polo available later this week same year and spec, I will try switching the steering controls module over as I suspect this may well be the culprit, it won't cost anything but 20 minutes of my time and will tick another element of failure off.

all resolved, when clock spring was replaced, the harness was damaged, the replacement was not the correct part,

I assume the original post relates to an incorrect harness being used when airbag was replaced. I had experienced identical issues.

Hoping this will help folk with future issues relating to the horn and cruise being inoperable and an airbag or harness replaced.
