Easing sticky nipples!

OK..... so.... trying to do the brake fluid... got almost everything i need apart from a 7mm-ish ring spanner, which is no big deal. Fluid, check, pressure kit, check, good seal on the reservoir, yep, spare tyre at reduced pressure, yep, bucket of water in case of spills, check, inclined surface to get all the bubbles out, also check.....

But the damn nipple nuts are stuck, rusty, covered in dirt and unused for probably 5 years... Stuck hard enough that i'm in danger of rounding them off.

I've blasted em thoroughly with WD40 and left to sit overnight. Will this penetrate (ooer) effectively enough that it'll be free and easy (with a bit of snapping force) tomorrow, or will extra treatment of some kind be required to get them spinning and sending me to alaska?

help a brotha out :)

Maybe a few light taps with a hammer along the axis of the nipple might help to loosen the threads before unscrewing - just a thought :)

A 1/4" drive 6 point socket on a ratchet might have less chance of rounding it off. Just give it another wire brush and soaking with wd first.

too late mate... i got a 7mm ring spanner which fitted nicely snug - in fact so snug that i could hardly get it back off after testing to take it back in the shop to pay for it after testing the fit (trusting people that they are!)

and then.... welll............. i guess this link explains the rest of the day's proceedings

replace the rear cylinder - only about 5£ from gsf and if they well old then they probably could do with doing anyway...
