1.2 to 1.4

Hi, my first post and it is a question for the more experienced. Is it possible to replace the knackered 1.2 with a 1.4 engine or am i farting against a tornado and wasting my time? What say ye?
Not sure about that (someone will be along soon) but the engine mounts, and transmission assembly interface might not align.
Why not replace with another 1.2 and save complications with needing to swap the ECU, road tax, insurance, etc.?
