Polo SE waiting times

So I ordered my polo se 1.0 95 tsi back in June 2018 I’ve been told I won’t be seeing my car till near September time, which is annoying me as the car is coming to roughly £23k which will be over a years wait. The car is coming with every extra ticked so I know it could be that but to date it still doesn’t have a build week and VW are very thin on the information they are giving me.

June 2018 to September 2019??
Woooah, that's ridiculous.
Is the spec non-negotiable to you, must have every item?
Maybe some flexibility would get you into one a lot sooner.
Retro-fitting of some of the items you've asked for might be possible?
I admire your patience, I'd have been in another car long before now.

Unfortunately yeah every item is really what I wanted I’m going to wait for it but I’m certainly going to ask for a discount

Have you attempted to source one anywhere else?
There are services online that will do it for you.
If they find a car somewhere else, I'm sure you're legally entitled to a refund of any deposit.
They've broken the contract, not you.
A year for a Polo....that's horrific.

Unfortunately I went with Arnold Clark I’ve tried doing some digging about deposit refunds but I keep on hitting a brick wall. But at the time they were offering the best price for the car and my p/x value.

So are you still using the P/EX car?
And have they said they'd honour the P/EX price they offered you in June, despite the car being older and more miles?

I was ment to get a courtesy car in December but nothing came out of it. Officially they haven’t said they will but I’ve got a good legal standing as the order was done incorrectly. But I sent a recorded mail letter to dealership with all my concerts and to rectify the situation but that was 10 days ago so we will see what comes from
That

So would you rather walk away and begin again elsewhere?
How much of a deposit have you put down?

This is all too vague for my liking.
1. They're moving the goalposts on delivery date.
2. They were supposed to give you a loan car, but didn't.
3. You're not sure if they'll still honour the trade in price on your P/EX car.
If it were me, I'd be seeing if I could get the same car faster anywhere else at the same sort of money.
Maybe think if there's one or two options you really could live without if it means getting into the car sooner.
Then I'd go back to Arnold Clark and demand my deposit back.
It's not like the car can be built already, not if they're saying delivery in September!

Sounds like they made some sort of balls up with your order. I also ordered in June 2018 and mine will be here in a couple of weeks time.

The mentioned dealership does tend to operate in a strange way, which begs the question of why VW allowed them to change their club.
A Polo SE with every option ticked, normally I've found that moving up a trim level saves you money if wanting a lot of options, in the case of my wife's August 2015 Polo, she previously ran an SE, okay an old 9N SE, but prior to placing an order for that new Polo back in April 2015, I vowed that I would never ever buy an Polo in SEL trim for the job it was being put to - then I checked prices of when ticking the options boxes for both SE and SEL - and it became clear to me that going for the SEL was the smart move as it saved money, allowed me to get some things I would not otherwise been able to, and ended up with some things (maybe) that were good to have. I carried out the same exercise for an Ibiza but it ended up with too many things missing but Alacantara included! I do understand that sometimes it depends on the individual though.
Another trick that dealer uses is, if they don't have the car you want, and this was when my daughter was buying her first car used, the actual branch that you are visiting will not allow you to go and view the car at the other branch that is stocking it - that I found crazy as she did not care where she was buying it and the same motoring group were getting the sale - nasty sneaky ways of doing business, as Andy suggested, try desperately to cancel that order and get your money back, then get some prices from brokers - CARWOW, ORANGEWHEELS etc - maybe even try brokers, even 4 or 5 and if their prices are good enough, either throw away that deposit and look at getting it back as a challenge, using local press if necessary.

To OP, did you get an official VW order number that you can use, or was that another sneaky trick they played, if you have an official VW order number then you can contact VW UK directly to see when that order was placed and ask for some clarification about why your order has such a long lead time - maybe it is not all smoke and mirrors and there is a good reason and everything is above board.

I just posted a reply a moment ago but it seems to have vanished but to put it simply
1. Eta was December but VW said estimated build week will be wk 22
2. It was the sales manager who said he would try source a car till mine arrived but I suspect he would of charged me for it. But herd nothing bsck so I think it was passed onto another sales executive abd not followed up
3. The original sales executive who made the order in June 2018 is no longer with the company, which does explain all the unanswered emails.

Jesus...
1. They should have set up an automated reply and divert as soon as he left, explaining the emails were being dealt with.
2. The email address should have been de-activated altogether after a certain period, so you'd then get 'undeliverable' reports.
The place is obviously a complete shambles, I'd have zero faith in going any further forward.
