Hi everyone! NEWBIE ALERT!

I've just got myself an 02 mk4 Polo S and I love it. Its only a 1.2 though (don't laugh).

The bodywork and engine is in fantastic condition given that its 17 years old, however, there are some things i'd like to smarten up/bring back or ad my own stamp to.

1. I'm wondering how i go about removing the badges and the black trim down side of the car so I can spray them white?

2. Can the wheel hubs be sanded and sprayed black to rewind the aged look?

3. Finally, the interior is tired, the plastic is a dull grey now, would i just use back to black or regular black spray paint?
- Also the fabric on the roof and sides is a bit dull too, what can i do with that?

I don't want to spend a fortune but i would like to freshen it up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Black trim down the sides of the car, ie the rubbing strips, I think that they are just stuck on with heavy duty double sided stuff, so I'm not sure how painless that job would be, my wife bought a new Polo 1.4 16v 75PS SE 5 door back in September 2002 and she ran it for 13 years 105K miles, I think that it is now dead as it has not been reMOT for a few years! But that car came with body coloured rubbing strips and that improved the looks.

Wheel hubs, I'm guessing that you mainly mean the rear drums, my daughter has a late 2009 SEAT Ibiza, and while she working abroad I used that car, it came new with grey painted rear drums, so as I'm a stickler for original look, I wire brushed them well, applied a rust stabilising coating, then painted them with the correct shade of grey which was just stone chip paint, rust came back through and they looked crap within 6 months, so stripped them back, wire brushed, used some different under coating then another few coats of grey stone chip protection paint, same thing after another 6 months!! So, at Easter time while my daughter was away on holiday, I had one final attempt to sort this out, this time, and strictly against Hammerite's advice, I mixed smooth black to smooth white Hammerite paint - and ended up with a good enough colour match - and 3 months on, they still look good, though time will tell how long that will last!
