First service today and courtesy car Polo

My Polo has gone in today and they have given me a manual version. First time I’ve driven a manual version of the new Polo and my observations are that the gear stick itself is good and comfortable to use but that the change is a little notchy but not overly so. Precise though definitely.
I can’t make a direct comparison as they have given me the non-turbo engine. Not sure if it’s the 64 or 79bhp model but it is an engine that is suited to town and city driving as it was woefully slow on the A38 coming home.
I floored it in 3rd and then 4th coming up the hill joining the carriageway and it was painful to see the lack of speed and progress. Once I eventually reached 70, it was at 3.5k revs in 5th. In fairness to it though, it wasn’t as loud and intrusive as I would expect at such revs over a long distance.
It just shows that it is a case of choosing that engine if you never or very rarely venture out onto the dual carriageways and motorways.
