pedal extensions

Hi everyone,
Just been browsing thru the DIY section of the forum, looking for a how-to guide on fitting pedal extensions - I'm very very soon to order some GTi Anni pedals from Martyn
Any tips on removing old ones/fitting new ones without breaking anything would be greatly appreciated!
As far as I can see the old ones will pull off with a little encouragement, and the new ones can be screwed on?
And last but not least: legality issues
I've read in catalogues like demon tweeks that pedal extensions are "for show or off-road use only". Plus I've read a few stories of insurers not paying up in the event of an accident because they claim that the metal pedals may have contributed to the accident - presumably shiny metal surface = slippery when wet
These pedals I'm getting are OEM, and top-spec cars such as the TT, Golf and presumably many many many modified cars have them fitted with no unusual consequences. Plus they have lots of rubber 'nipples' on them to help your shoes grip the pedal easily so all should be well.
Finally finally: Woo yay! Metal pedals!! They're so cool
