Polo mk2 86c sedan side draft conversion

Hi guys
I am from South Africa, i recently bought a 93 vw polo mk2 86c sedan. It has a 1100 motor. Would love to convert to side drafts (which i already have). Just needs a intake and some guidance.
I removed the old intake manifold (please see attached). Can someone please explain the 2 holes that i have encircled on the picture...
