Hey everyone,
In this months The Golf (May 2003) they done an article on the Polo GTi
pages 84 to 87. And they say the 1.6 GTi can yield up to a heallthy 140bhp.
Now what modifications would you do to get this,

I know the Power Box
gives 15bhp more but lower down the engine revs.
Cheers

well to start get the breathing sorted (filter/induction kit and exaust)
then prolly a cam with adjustable timing gear
then possibly a full replacement chip (possibly with larger injectors)
after that you into the realm of serious internal work and possibly FI

There's someone on clublupo.co.uk with a 141bhp Lupo GTI - I think this was just filter and exhaust - I believe some of the Lupo peeps are fitting Polo tuning parts, due them having the same engine - might be worth digging around over there.

id have to say do a cam and either an ecu or a power system
dont forget though that you hqave the variable inlet timing on the gti so the cam can be really lairy on the uintake at high rpm but much more civilised on the lower end but due to the fixed exaust valve timing you may suffer from a bit of blow through if you go too lairy (this is when the inlet and exaust are open at the same time and you end up with unburnt gasses in tyhe exaust
