Do I need to replace timing chain and sprocket after 5 months

I am having to replace the head on the VAG BMD engine code in the polo after just 5 months. Last time I did this I also replaced the sprockets, chain and followers. Trying to keep cost down and was hoping I could avoid the extra expense and not have to replace all of this again. Car has done about 3k since the head was last done.
