1.9 Sdi 2003 IMF / ASV help please

I've owned Polos since 1998 (two) This is my first post! This shows what great cars they are.. I've just turned over 200,000 miles on my 9n 1.9 Sdi, most of those teaching people to drive..

I have my engine management light on, I've cancelled it off a few times with the same fault.. It's the ASV (IMF).

I've checked it out and the problem is that it stays in the open position, the car runs just fine, it doesn't close when I turn the engine off. Before spending on a new (which is about as much as the car is worth!) or maybe second hand one I want to check that's it's actually getting power on shut down.. Which fuse(s) Is in it's circuit? There are 4 wires going to it, brown is earth, two I guess is the sensor for movement and one the live feed to the D.C. motor on shut down. Can anyone give me this information please?

I have read that the gears give up after a while on these devices and goodness knows how many times it has been switched on and off!!

Any help from you guys would be really appreciated.
