Hi guys new to this forum so be gentle, I have purchased a vw polo 05 plate 1.4 tdi twist, Now question is the headunit what is in. I have to turn off by power button, The car has no steering controls on it. any suggestions how to wire it up so it turns off by switched live, also fitting a dashcam but i know how to do that from fuse board with a piggy bank nextbase hardwire kit, any input would be great thanks

After reading around it sounds like an issue with switched live and constant power. A lot of the time they’re just the wrong way around, do you lose any memory settings when turning the car off and on?

Ok so seems it gets constant power as it keeps the memory settings, so could still be an issue with switched live. I myself am going to be fitting a head unit sometime this week and I’ll hopeful make a guide and post it, just need to remember to take pictures and document the process. IIRC yellow is constant 12V, red is switched live, orange is dimmer circuit, black is ground.
I’d take the head unit out and check the inputs, they’re usually in the manual for the head unit or you can look up the head unit online and get the manual from there and confirm they are connected correctly to the cars radio loom.
May sound stupid but does the radio stay on even after turning the car off and taking the key out of the ignition? As that is when my factory radio turns off. It will stay on with the key in position 0 after running the car.

yes i can take key out and stays on have to turn it off and on by button, i bought the car when this was in so i am guessing instead of the person buying a harness adapter they might have chopped stuff, i hope not, and if you could post up your headunit fitting that would be great
