I need to replace the door handle and and the lock on my car after a job gone wrong. Any ideas how the Barrel from my old lock comes out so I don't have to get a new key?
Thanks.
Karl.

I was gonna get that done professionally later on (when I can afford it!). For now, I'm just after repairing the standard set up.

after taking the handle off the car... there is one screw right at the end of teh barrel which unscrews and you can push barrel out - easy 5 min job

Thanks for that! I had a feeling something might give if I removed that screw.
Thanks.

i wouldnt be able to tell you how to do it, but when i got the crap door from the scrap dealer, he took no more than about 30 seconds to undo a couple screws and remove first the lock barrel and then the entire handle. easy-as.

Deadcat, just search for 'locking' and then click "Show results from: Motoring - Accessories" or whatever the section's called.. quite a lot of kits going in there, might be tempted at some stage..

i'll add my bit of advice! if you are taking out the barrel, put the key in the lock, then all the pins will be in the correct position and it will slide easily back into your new lock!
