Buying a new Polo - TSI 1.0 95bhp or 115bhp

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this forum, wich i've found by Google research and it seemed perfect for what i'm looking for!
So, i'm going to buy a new Polo in my country, and i can't decide between the 95bhp engine or 115bhp (Both 1.0 TSI of course) because i'm a bit worried about the fuel consumption will be much higher in the 115bhp version and if the 95bhp is enought for a guy that loves cars and a "fast one" but cares about a lot on fuel consumption because in my country the fuel prices are ridiculously HIGH, VERY HIGH!
Can people tell me about your experiences with both engines and if the small difference price tag (600€) for the 115bhp version or worth it without hurting a lot the consumption?
Best regards all

There's very little difference in the fuel consumption figures . . . .
95PS
Fuel consumption - urban - 49,6 mpg
Fuel consumption - extra-urban - 70,6 mpg
Fuel consumption - combined - 61,4 mpg
CO₂-emissions - combined - 106 g/km
115PS
Fuel consumption - urban - 49,6 mpg
Fuel consumption - extra-urban - 68,9 mpg
Fuel consumption - combined - 60,1 mpg
CO₂-emissions - combined - 107 g/km
So do as I've done and go for the 115PS for the extra power and the 6-speed manual gearbox

Thanks guys!
I've noticed that this car now comes with the GPF... That doesn't look good, in Diesel cars that's a huge headache and very problematic stuff... You guys have any experience with GPF on Petrol cars?

OPF errors, for me no but there is a discussion on this forum with GTI and OPF issues for some forum members.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about them, and wouldn't let it dictate your buying, but that's me. If you do a mix of driving then the GPF shouldn't cause you any issues. If you do only short journeys then you have some right to be concerned as it will need to regen often. When it does need to regen your fuel economy will suffer. A spirited drive every now and then will keep the GPF clear.
Most new cars now will come with GPF's now anyway so there is no escaping them. If you want to avoid a GPF an option would be to get an 18 plate polo second hand or ex-demo.
I went with the GTI but before I made that decision the SEL 115 DSG would have been my choice.

As stated earlier in this thread, OPF isn't a big issue, and the car will regen it if needed.
In terms of 95 Vs 115, they're pretty much the same in mpg if you drive them the same. The difference is that the 115 is more powerful. If you use this extra power, it will cost you in mpg.
I've driven an 80ps manual and a 95ps dsg. The power jump was quite substantial, so I imagine the 115 would be a decent bump up again.
Are you looking at manual or DSG ?

The 115bhp is the one to go for; annoys the socks of all those spotty teenagers in their supped up Fiestas and Astra's etc.

My initial post was incomplete.
I say 115HP is the best option having driven all the models in the range.
It has much better over taking capability and is not bad with fuel consumption figures. My previous 115HP achieved an avg of 7.2L/100km with DSG. That said if I drive nicely with my current GTI it can achieve that figure too.

I've a 95 and it's enough for daily use in the city but if you do motorway the 5 speed gearbox is bad for fuel economy. Go above 75mph (120kmh) and the fuel efficiency go from 5 to 6L/100km (56 to 47mpg).

That is poor - my GTI+ will do 46mpg sitting at 80mph on the motorway, or 53mpg maintaining 70.
The GTI engine has Audi Valvelift tech on the engine inlet and can run on a lean/high compression ratio under low load situations - both really help with bumping the mpg average up.
Not much penalty for picking a GTI if not driving everywhere with a lead foot.

As I said, the 5 speed gearbox is very bad in motorway. At open county roads I made 80mpg.
Also the car is still very new with only 1200 miles and the fuel consumption is higher.
PS: Rabanadas is from Portugal like me and here, because of taxes, the price of a GTi is enough to buy 2 "normal" Polos. Also the annual taxes are at least 2 times more expensive.

It's true that in Portugal taxes do not help and Polo Gti is very penalized.
Mostly I only drive in the city.
In addition to the 7km journey on each side, home/work and vice versa and in almost 6 months since I bought it, the average is 8.6 l/100km...
