Android Auto query

My Samsung phone works great connected to Android Auto using Waze, but there is one small issue, and I wonder whether it's a phone or the car display issue.
When it gets dark the screen goes into night mode, yet as far as I can tell I have it set up to stay in daylight mode all the time. The light sensor which triggers this seems to be very sensitive even darkening the screen when I go under a bridge. It's particularly annoying on a dull day when it darkens.
What am I missing?

Not too sure but I leave mine on satellite view all the time and there's not a big difference between night and day modes and it looks much better too

On android auto you can disable the night mode, I think that should "resolve" the problem.
On my car the night mode with android and waze works just fine.

So the option to keep the screen on daylight mode all the time is cancelled by the auto headlight function? (which I use) That makes sense I guess. Can you alter the sensitivity of that function?
I find the contrast between night and day screens unacceptable unless it's actual night time.

Sorry, I forgot to explain that the option is on the phone, on the android auto app, not on the car radio and it's a Android developer option.
In the link below you have the instructions how to activate the Developer settings and configure the night mode.

Thanks for the link but I can't get it to work. To get into developer settings ie hitting About Android Auto 10 times doesn't actually do anything?

My version is the latest and the link was very recent?
Youtube gave me the workflow.
This works for me:
"hamburg" menu/settings/about/version (tap 10 times)/multi dot menu/developer settings

or version

sorry my memory is a bit faulty

tapping build number works in phone settings to enable developers settings

The video resolution setting is interesting, it gives you 4 choices
1 Allow car and phone to negotiate
2 allow only 480p
3 allow up to 720p
4 allow up to 1080p
None of these are ticked on my phone. Should I pick one?
What is the resolution of the Polo screen.
Has anyone played with these on their Polo?
The reason I ask is because on Waze the speed and limit sign could do to be a little bigger. I've seen mention this before somewhere but I guess we have to wait and see if Waze will improve this!

I changed it a few months back (i whink it was when AA was version 4.1) and I didn't notice anything. Some of these settings might work only in AA on phone

In my case changing those options don't change anything...
