Heater Fan only works when set to 4

Any ideas why this could be happening? Heater fan doesn’t operate at all unless it’s set to max speed ‘4’?

Sooooo with a bit of Googling, it seems that this is a relatively common issue on VAG cars with the likely culprit the Blower / Heater motor resistor with the reason it works on the highest speed being that said resistor is effectively bypassed when the fan is set to 4. As the car is 18 Months old, I’ll be taking it to the dealership with a view to getting this rectified under warranty..
