Jacking Point Markers

While changing the wheels today for the first time, I noticed that all 4 jacking point markers are hidden by the black plastic side “skirts”.
The handbook shows how to identify the jacking points using the popular VAG triangular indent on the sill, but as these are hidden on the GTI you have to know which part of the seam to jack on.
As I was using a trolley jack it was easy to lift on the rear suspension.
ps - the same “skirts” are what prevented mudflats being fitted by the dealer.
Has anyone bodged mud flaps onto a GTI with skirts?
