What do I need to get to do this. i've seen one place saying i just need to take the locks out and replace with blanks (DIY Guide on here i think) but that was a 9n. and another saying to change the enitre handles with rear door handles.

Cheeres!!

You'll need the rear handles from a 5-door 6n2. AFAIK the lock mechanism is contained within the handle, so you can just take out the current handles, pop in the new handles, stand back and admire your handiwork! Also think happy thoughts about chavs not being able to jimmy your locks any more

There is a guide somewhere on the forum... think I may have asked about it myself in the past... I'll be getting round to doing this after Christmas, when funds are a little more freed up!

BTW someone please correct me if its a bit more complex than "off with the old, on with the new"

Cheeres Si, I'll take a trip to the scrappy tommorow and see if they've got any. I'll let you know how it goes. The DIY guide is for a 9n.

sweet, I'll do that then, I just put in an order with martin so ill add them too it. Probably less hassle than hunting around for them! They'll just need painting I guess. Cheeres for that.

Kool I should be doing it the weekend after next if i get the parts buy then. I guess it'll take about a week cos the handles will probs need painting and that takes time. I'll take lots of photos as i do it, so every1 can see how its done.

I'm also planning to put a wing vent in for a cold air feed to my BMC wen i get it. plus lots more.

There is a removing & replacing door handles DIY Guide on the forum. Its for the 9N but its exactly the same as for the 6N2.

Fitting mine as soon as I get the rest of my car painted, I'll get the handles done at the same time then.

Will the wing vent have any effect? It will look cool but it shouldnt have any effect on the cold air feed, unless you cut your way in to the engine bay also?

the idea is still in its early stages, Yeh it'll look good i think. I was going too see if i could run some tubing from the vent to the BMC somehow. Mite be more hassle than its worth, but im going to have a look anyway.

De- locking

The only problem with de-locking is relying 100% on your electronic key fob. If your key fob dies, and you don't carry a spare key or replacement battery, you're not gonna be able to get in your car.

Less importantly I know, but if you lock your car and forget to close your window/sunroof, you will not be able to do the automatic shut from outside the car.

But if you can prevent some t**t breaking into your car, it's gotta be worth it.

already got a spare wing and getting the bmc tomoz (£130!!! bargain!!) looking to fibreglass the 'elephant trunk' cold air feed to the inner wing to effectively force air in....
