Rear legroom Space comparison

Hi

Here is a YouTube car reviewer sitting behind his seat position in a Polo GTI, Merc A35 AMG and 2020 Bmw 135i M Sport. Not bad for Polo being a smaller class car 👌😎

Polo offers a lot of knee room compared to bigger cars.

Probably from three separate videos. In the pictures posted above by green justin, the reviewer is wearing different clothes in the Polo picture.

I watched a couple of videos recently - one of the Polo and another of the BMW 1 series by the same reviewer. In the BMW video, the reviewer commented on the poor leg/knee room in the rear of the car. Quite often the Polo’s rear leg room is compared to the segment above and it compares pretty favourably to the rear space in those larger cars, and better than most in the Polo sized segment.

Ah well spotted I hadn’t noticed that lol! I had the old 6C GTI and as much as I loved it , the lack of any space really ruined it as a second family car. The boot was also a joke. This time though the big improvement in space really sold it to me and in comparison to my current Mk 3 Seat Leon I really don’t feel I’m missing much cabin space and even the boot is now a decent size for weekend family duties. Well it will be if it ever gets here! Build week 18 almost here and with a bit of luck when it arrives for pick up end of June hopefully full lockdown will have been lifted. Fingers crossed 🤞

I was divided between the polo and the fiesta and one of the main reasons of buying the polo was the most space in rear and trunk, in cars of the same size.

Subscribe, some great reviews

I always thought I should have bought a bigger car like a Golf or 1 series but then I saw this video and I am glad I have the Polo GTI.

2.0 turbo engine, active info display, practical and faster then the quoted figures.

Here is a moose test comparison between Polo GTI and C Class Merc. The Polo is safer through the Slalom compared to the Merc !!

Indeed the fiesta is narrower and shorter so less storage space inside.

Lots of dependencies affecting new car deliveries unfortunately.

I think VW’s Uitenhage factory is still operating, so cars may still be being built to scheduled build weeks (assuming there aren’t any supply chain issues with VW’s component suppliers affecting Polo builds). However, depending on the Covid-19 situation in South Africa at the time and how it might also affect transportation of vehicles between the factory and UK dealerships, normal delivery timescales could well be affected.

Under normal circumstances, I’d anticipate a car built during week 18 (w/c 27/04/2020) would be ready to begin transit to on the UK the following week (w/c 04/05/2020). Assuming 8 weeks to get to the UK dealer, and the car should arrive around end of June. However, if we’ve progressed to a partial lockdown scenario by the end of June, who knows what we might or might not be permitted to do? I’d share your pain if your car is actually delivered to the dealer for end of June, but lockdown measures in place at the time meant you weren’t able to collect it! (hopefully not).

Fingers crossed that everything goes to plan.

Cheers SRGTD. Yes so far VW South Africa running on schedule and I’d hoped for end of June. After all the waiting (and it’s doing my head in already but tempered by the Covid situation) it will be excruciating if I know it’s there but can’t have it. Hopefully there will be at least some loosening of the lockdown by then
